Author Guidelines

1. Scope of Submission

Manuscripts submitted to JESAI must fall within the journal's focus areas: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Civil Engineering, including interdisciplinary and computational approaches to engineering systems. Authors are encouraged to review the Focus and Scope page before submission.

2. Manuscript Types

JESAI accepts the following types of submissions:

  • Original Research Articles
  • Review Articles
  • Technical Reports / Case Studies

3. Language

Manuscripts must be written in clear, grammatically correct English (British or American English, used consistently throughout).

4. Manuscript Template

All submissions must follow the official JESAI manuscript template (available for download on the journal homepage). Manuscripts not using the official template may be returned to the author prior to review.

5. Manuscript Length

Manuscripts should generally be between 3,000 and 8,000 words, including references, tables, and figures. Exceptions may be considered for review articles.

6. Manuscript Structure

A complete manuscript should include, in order:

  • Title (concise and informative, max 20 words)
  • Author names and affiliations (with corresponding author clearly marked)
  • Abstract (150 to 250 words, structured or unstructured)
  • Keywords (3 to 5 keywords)
  • Introduction
  • Materials and Methods (or Methodology)
  • Results and Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • Acknowledgment (optional)
  • References

7. Formatting Requirements

  • Font: Times New Roman, 11pt (or as specified in the template)
  • Line spacing: 1.15
  • Margins: as specified in the template
  • Figures and tables: numbered sequentially, with captions, and referenced in the text
  • Equations: numbered sequentially and prepared using an equation editor

8. Citation and Reference Style

JESAI uses the IEEE citation style (numbered in-text citations, references listed in order of appearance). A minimum of 20 references is recommended, with at least 80% sourced from the last 10 years and primarily from peer-reviewed journals (limited use of textbooks or non-scholarly sources).

9. Plagiarism Policy

All submitted manuscripts will be screened using Turnitin (or equivalent) plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts with a similarity index above 25% (excluding references and quotations) will be returned to the author for revision before proceeding to review.

10. Peer Review Process

JESAI applies a double-blind peer review process. Each manuscript is reviewed by a minimum of two independent reviewers with relevant expertise. The review process typically takes 4 to 8 weeks, depending on reviewer availability.

11. Article Processing Charge (APC)

JESAI currently does not charge any Article Processing Charge (APC) for submission, review, or publication.

12. Submission Process

Manuscripts must be submitted online through the JESAI OJS platform (Online Submissions page). Submissions via email will not be accepted.

13. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain copyright of their work and grant JESAI the right of first publication. Published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

14. Research and Publication Ethics

Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts represent original work, have not been previously published, and are not under consideration elsewhere. All authors listed must have made a significant contribution to the research. Any conflict of interest must be disclosed.

15. AI Usage Disclosure

If generative AI tools were used in the preparation of the manuscript (for example, for language editing or literature search assistance), authors must disclose this in the Acknowledgment section, specifying the tool used and its role. AI tools may not be listed as authors.
